VBD vs FF

Well after RNX played them I had to admit I was a little worried about this game. The randomiser threw up a couple of bad maps but we negiotated and changed them.

The match got underway with VBD taking the initiative and getting the flag, unfortuneately it came to nothing as FF had some solid defence on the bridges. With myself pushing for the flag and bobbah defending, mits and lazy were free to roam the middle of the map. This setup eventually paid off and we got a cap a few minutes into the game.

FF managed to get the flag a few times but bobbah's solid defence meant they rarely got to the bridges let alone their base. After another flag capture from myself they started to push forward more which resulted in yet another flag capture. With the scores at 3-0 and 5 minutes to go they went all out attack and we quickly rapped the game up, with mits appearing from nowhere to capture the 4th.

I had a brief emergency before the match begun and asked for a 5 minute break to deal with it. However somehow Dualblades entered the game and the game started without me. Eventually we managed to get Dual out and i joined but it was too late as they capped the flag within seconds of me joining, 1-0 to FF. The game was very hard to play as lag played a major part, with a half second bullet delay at times. Due to me joining midmatch we had no choice to continue as leaving would've resulted in a loss.

The game was a stalemate from this point and no one managed to get the flag for more than a few seconds let alone back to their base.

The tdm got of to a great start with me getting first blood and second b4 being shot in the back. The scores after 30 seconds were 9-2 to VBD. However they quickly responded closing the gap.

After a few minutes we started to work more as a squad, covering each other. This quickly resulted in ourselves pulling away and building a healthy lead, around 20 kills. After a few killing sprees from bobbah the lead was unassailable and one member of FF's team members seemed to respond to this by only using his impact hammer. Me and lazy rejoiced at this due to an enforcer being dropped after u killed him. The last 3 minutes turned into a competition between me and bobbah to see who could get more kills, he edged it in the dying seconds and beat me by 1 kill.

After the lag issues with the vctf we asked for a dedi since the warfare was going to be as bad if not worse. After some hassle with getting a 4th player FF eventually managed to get in and the game got underway.

We had practiced this map all day and had the tactics down. We quickly took the centre node and carried on to the prime, me dropping of the orb carrier and flying straight to their core. This resulted in an early 40pts of damage to FF's core before they recapped their prime.

FF then put up some good resistance taking the centre node and nearly our prime. At this point we quickly reorganised and took control of the centre. The next 5 minutes was just a mini war between the centre and their prime. Eventually however we broke through capping their prime, luckily me and bobbah were both in there base at the time, so within 30 seconds we destroyed their core, game over.

Well played FF, it was close and mostly an enjoyable game. Sorry about the confusion regarding the 2nd and 4th maps, it was a shame as it put a blip on what was otherwise a great match.
